How Is Infertility Going To Affect Your Life?

If you are one of the millions of couples who are struggling to get pregnant, and believe that you may be infertile, there is no doubt that you have had the following thoughts: What is infertility going to do to our marriage and our financial situation? Naturally, these thoughts are reasonable, but before you get too worked up you need to make sure there is a reason for concern. If you and your spouse have spent a year or more trying to get pregnant without success, you should discuss the issue of infertility with your physician. If you have not been trying for at least a year, you should keep trying. For most couples, it takes the better part of a year – between eight and ten months on average – to get pregnant. Additionally, you may also need to make changes to your lifestyle to ensure that you are eating properly, exercising, and avoiding alcohol and tobacco. For both men and women, being overweight or underweight can negatively affect fertility and inhibit conception, which makes it important for both partners to maintain proper levels of fitness. Even things like stress have a direct impact on the possibility for conception. Of course, it could just be that your reasons for infertility are simple. In fact, the number of women whose infertility issues require more aggressive infertility treatment procedures is minimal – three percent. In the vast majority of cases, the causes of infertility are as simple as imbalances in hormone production, and can be treated with drugs.

What is infertility going to do to our marriage?

Of course, you still want to know how infertility will affect your marriage. First recognize that infertility often causes stress between partners in any relationship. The testing alone can be a major stress inducer, as you endure blood tests and many other procedures just to discover the source of your infertility. Thankfully, most physicians understand the added stress that infertility can cause in a marriage, and will be able to recommend various counseling programs – individual and group-oriented – that can assist you in managing your emotions as you go through the treatment process. It is helpful sometimes to discuss your fears and experiences in a setting filled with other couples who have been through the same process. You don’t have to cope alone.

What is infertility going to do to our financial situation?

How infertility affects your financial situation is entirely dependent upon your means. The fact is that infertility treatment procedures – especially the more complex ones – can place tremendous stress on your bank account. Just one in vitro cycle can cost you as much as $16,000, and most infertility treatment plans require a full three cycles before they result in pregnancy. Fortunately, there are often insurance policies that you can acquire, depending upon the laws in your home state and what insurance company you currently use. You can also locate various grants that can either mitigate the financial cost of infertility procedures or cover the costs entirely.

How is infertility going to affect your life? The most important question you might be asking right now is how infertility is going to affect your life. To be frank, it is going to increase your stress levels – at least for a period of time. Anyone who tells you that it won’t is living in a fantasy world. Still, you need to know that you have the odds in your favor. In most cases, infertility eventually passes, leaving you with a clear pathway to conceiving a child and attaining the one of the “Greatest Joys on Earth”- the joy that comes with parenthood.

Stop Getting Screwed: Its bad for your Health

Stopping is cool. The celebrities are always seen at it. It’s cheap. You may even get pleasure out of it. Oh and no it’s not sex.

Of course you knew the above is just a huge euphemism and I’m talking about wearing sunglasses. I mean how often do you go outside without sunglasses on and walk around screwing your eyes up. Well, if you do this often, keep reading and you’ll see what horrors you could cause.

Despite the fact that the Sun is around 93 million miles away it still posses a serious threat to your eye health. As you know the sun sends Ultraviolet (UV) radiation to the earth all the time. This is the main reason we wear (or should be wearing) sunglasses.

Recent studies have shown that overexposure to UV rays without proper protection can cause cataracts (see picture below). Cataracts can reduce your visual abilities significantly and require an operation to remove. I thought of including a picture of surgery to increase the shock factor but I decided
If cataracts are not bad enough in extreme cases it can even cause keratitis which is very bad news indeed. This results in temporary blindness coupled with an extreme burning sensation brought about by an inflammation of the cornea (when you poke your dye it’s the first bit you touch).

Yet, you may be sitting reading this thinking I don’t spend long periods of time being exposed to UV rays with unprotected eyes and thus, this will not do any harm and the above won’t happen. Except it does not need to be a long period of exposure as the effects are cumulative: short periods of time a little too often will land you in the doctors office receiving a stern row- which may get under you’re skin. But not in the same way as the surgeon will.

I hope I have terrified you into wearing sunglasses when you go out. But I don’t want you to go around the house like a lunatic with a hammer, paint brush and tin of paint; smashing every light bulb and painting every window black. While sitting in pitch dark with a balaclava without eye slits and a pair of sunglasses on top. That would just be “too far in fact, far too far”.

All you need to do is get a good pair of sunglasses and wear them. I have to buy a new pair as the lens of my old ones fell out. When I go to buy my new pair I will keep in mind the functionality look on the tag for light absorption/light reflection percentage. You want to go for the highest to give the best protection.

With this article I intended not to increase paranoia (as so many online health articles are notorious for) I simply intended to raise awareness. Finally, I don’t work for a sunglasses company so I’m not hawking another thing so many online articles can be notorious for.

How Much Water Should You Drink a Day?

Water for Life!

How much water should you drink a day?

Water is absolutely critical to our body which comprises about 75% water; the brain has 85%, blood 90%, lungs 90%, muscles 75%, kidney 82% and even bones has 22%. Basically, we are made of water!

Water dissolves many valuable nutrients, minerals, and chemicals in the biological processes and transports them to different parts of our body. The carbohydrates and proteins that our bodies use as food are metabolised and transported by water in the bloodstream. Water is just as important in the transport of waste and toxins out of our bodies. Without the replenishment of fresh water, our body will fail to function, start to waste away, and finally collapse. An adult loses about 2.5 litres water every day through perspiration, breathing, and elimination (urine and faeces), and when the body loses 5% of its total water volume, symptoms of dehydration such as thirst, unexplained tiredness, irritation, dark urine, will begin to show up.

The consequence of consuming insufficient water can be devastating to our body. The cells will start to draw water from the bloodstream instead, causing the heart to work harder. At the same time, when the kidneys fail to cleanse the blood effectively due to inadequate water, the liver and other organs will have to work harder, putting them under extra stress. Continuous water loss over time will speed up aging but increase risks of diseases and health issues such as constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nosebleeds, urinary tract infection, coughs, sneezing, sinus pressure, and headaches.
So, how much water should you drink a day? How much water is enough for you? The minimum amount of water you need depends on our body weight. As a general guide, for two pounds of body weight, an ounce of water is required. So, if you are 60kg, you should drink about 2 litres of water every day.

The secret to overcoming many health issues like pain, inflammation, lethargy, mental fatigue, anxiety, depression, obesity, in fact can be found in water – the most common healing medicine. Drink enough of water, there is healing power in it. Don’t indulge in drinking soft drinks, thinking they can quench your thirst. Carbonated high fructose corn syrup drinks are diuretics; the caffeine in it squeezes liquids out of the body and depletes our water reserves. They are wrong substitutes of water.

Hydrate yourself adequately daily. Ask yourself how much water should you drink a day and target to make it happen. Many of you might have heard of this water therapy for good health maintenance – On a daily basis, first thing early in the morning, head straight for the kitchen and drink 5 glasses of water (about 1 litre) even before you brush your teeth or wash your face. Wait for at least half an hour before you take your breakfast.

1.   Walking – especially on surfaces such as sand, fields or woodland. Tarmac is ok, but can be a bit boring and you should take extra care to wear well cushioned trainers to protect your joints.
